New Nissan GT-R on the track

Behind the Scenes at the Nissan GT-R Dealer Launch

As an organisation, Nissan invest a lot in the training of their salespeople. When talking with potential buyers, it’s important for our teams to not only know how a vehicle looks on paper, but how it performs in the real world. While this typically means driving a new vehicle on the open-road, for one particular car, we needed to take things to the next level. That’s why our Sales Manager was recently invited to a track in Melbourne to sample one of Nissan’s most exciting vehicles ahead of its launch… the Nissan GT-R.

After an introductory morning with Nissan’s team – including a walk-around of the GT-R Track Edition, attendees were led out to the track where five new Premium GT-Rs were waiting, alongside two examples of the current model.

The outgoing Nissan GT-R is an incredible vehicle. For the new model, we expected something along the same lines but with a few small improvements. We left the event having been blown away by just how hot the new Nissan GT-R really is, not to mention the incredible upgrades available. More on those soon!

Keen to stay in the loop? Register here and we’ll update you when we have more information.

Nissan Unveils Compact Crossover Model – Nissan Kicks

  • Design taken from Kicks concept, unveiled at 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show
  • Designed to benefit those who live in the city
  • Kicks will offer best-in-class design, convenience and technological innovation
  • Features Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection, which is a step on the road to Nissan Intelligent Mobility
  • Futuristic design
  • To be launched in more than 80 countries, worldwide

PRESS RELEASE

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (3 May 2016) – Nissan’s global leadership in the crossover segment will be further strengthened by the arrival of the all-new Nissan Kicks.

The production Nissan Kicks retains the basic design cues taken from the Kicks Concept – first shown at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in 2014 – and is a stylish crossover built for busy city-dwellers to tackle everything the city can throw at it.

Kicks features established design signatures, such as Nissan’s V-motion grille, boomerang head and taillights, and the floating roof with a “wrap-around visor” look to the windscreen and side glass.

During the engineering process, much attention was paid to the car’s overall aerodynamic performance – not only to benefit its dynamic performance, but also its overall refinement by reducing wind noise.

Inside, the story is one of quality and futuristic design in a cabin full of innovative features expected by a target audience who are technology hungry. The interior promises best-in-class passenger space in the rear – despite the coupé-like roofline – as well as one of the largest load areas in its class.

Front seat occupants face the latest version of Nissan’s modern and simple Gliding Wing dashboard design, which is dominated by a centrally mounted seven-inch full colour display housing a comprehensive infotainment system with Smartphone connectivity.

Among the other technologies on-board, Kicks will feature Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection, which use four on-board cameras to present a bird’s-eye view of the car and to warn the driver of any unseen hazards. This is a segment first in the region and, taken together, offers a step on the road to Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

A sporting flavour is provided by the flat-bottom steering wheel, while the crossover stance provides a high eye point to give the driver an empowering viewpoint of the road ahead.

“With Kicks, we have developed a compact crossover in the best Nissan tradition, and thanks to the unmatched experience, we have in creating vehicles to meet the needs of car-buyers around the world,” said Keno Kato, Corporate Vice President, Product Planning, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.

“Kicks will offer best-in-class design, convenience and technological innovation. And, it will demonstrate Nissan’s commitment to Nissan Intelligent Mobility. Kicks is a car to confidently take on the city.”

Nissan Kicks sales will begin first in Brazil in August, followed by Latin American left-hand drive markets later in fiscal year 2016. And ultimately, it will be introduced in more than 80 global markets.

The Nissan Kicks is not confirmed for the New Zealand market at this time.

Qashqai Best Small SUV Awards

Nissan Qashqai Wins Best Small SUV & Crossover of the Year 2016

We’re proud to say that the Nissan Qashqai has been well recognised at recent vehicle industry awards. It has won the title of Car of the Year 2016 in the highly contested category of Best Small SUV in the What Car? awards for the third year running. Just weeks after this announcement, the Qashqai was also named the Crossover of the Year in the BusinessCar awards.

“It’s one of the most economical and least-polluting vehicles in this category, and its high-quality interior keeps wind, engine and road noise at bay.” – What Car?

For the What Car? awards, they consider a number of factors in the Best Small SUV category:

  • Interiors must be comfortable and spacious, and must be well assembled from quality materials.
  • A competitive purchase price helps but running costs and depreciation are very much under the microscope.
  • The car should be stable and capable on all roads, no matter whether they are city streets, motorways or anything in between.
  • Practicality is vital; these are family cars first and foremost.

For the BusinessCar Awards, the Qashqai was judged by an expert panel from across the fleet industry. It was the Qashqai’s high driving position, good looks, excellent residual values, decent equipment and very tidy handling that combined to allow the model to take the title of BusinessCar’s Crossover of the Year.

Press Release on the Qashqai Car of the Year Award

LONDON (20 January 2016) – For the third year in a row, Nissan’s Qashqai has triumphed in the Best Small SUV category at the prestigious What Car? Awards.

At the annual ceremony in London, the Qashqai was not only named ‘Best Buy’ in the £15,000-£25,000 price point, but it also went on to be crowned overall winner in the ‘Small SUV’ category, beating sixteen other shortlisted models.

What Car?’s pick of the Qashqai line-up was the 1.5dCi 110 n-tec with the judges praising the model’s efficiency and economy, refined diesel power plant, smooth suspension and interior quality as well as generous equipment levels.

Jim Holder, Editorial Director for Haymarket, which publishes What Car?, said; “The Qashqai makes it a hat trick with yet another win in this hotly contested category. Despite strong opposition, the SUV from Sunderland possesses all the necessary talents for victory.

Not only is it one of the most economical and least-polluting vehicles in this category, it also has a high-quality interior that keeps wind, engine and road noise at bay.

Excellent practicality, a chassis that is well suited to British roads and impressive engine refinement are the icing on the cake.”

James Wright, Managing Director, Nissan Motor GB, said; “We’re delighted that the Qashqai’s charm has won over the What Car? judges yet again.

It’s also a winner with the car buying public who have made the Nissan Qashqai the best-selling crossover in the UK.”

A real success story for Nissan, in September 2015 the new Qashqai became the fastest ever UK-built vehicle to smash the half million production mark. Since production began in 2014, a new Qashqai has been built every 62 seconds, or 58 per hour, at the Sunderland plant’s Line 1.

The Qashqai’s impressive quality, styling and technology continue to make it the best-selling crossover in Europe.

Press Release on the Qashqai Crossover of the Year award

LONDON (27 January 2016) – BusinessCar – one of the UK’s leading publications for company car drivers and operators – has named the Nissan Qashqai its Crossover of the Year.

The British-built model took the title – the nation’s fifth best-selling car –in the face of increased competition in the crossover segment.

The award, announced this morning, is particularly significant as it was decided by an expert panel of readers recruited from across the fleet industry.

They chose the Qashqai as their winner for its outstanding all-round appeal, singling out the popular model’s strong residual values, running costs, practicality, efficiency and quality.

Making the announcement, BusinessCar editor, Paul Barker, said: “The model that established the increasingly important crossover sector is still at its forefront despite increasing competition.
“In fact, it continues to go from strength-to-strength, which is all the more impressive given the level of success it has achieved over the last few years.”

The award came just weeks after the Qashqai was named Best Small SUV in the What Car? magazine awards for the third year running. The model was also named by What Car? as the ‘Best
Buy’ between £15,000 and £25,000 in the UK.

Barry Beeston, Corporate Sales Director at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to see the Qashqai – a model which has proved a massive hit with company car drivers and fleet operators – honoured in this way.

“Awards like these that are voted for by real fleet drivers and operators are particularly special as they mean the decision makers who have added the Qashqai to their fleet, and the people who
drive it every day, are happy.

2015-navara-2

The all-new Nissan Navara is the 12th generation of its hard-working pick-up, embodying Nissan’s legacy of excellence and trust in this highly demanding segment, and now with new levels of comfort, convenience and advanced technologies.

Backed by Nissan’s 80 years of global pick-up truck know-how and legendary reliability, the Navara meets the needs of various demanding driving conditions we find on our New Zealand roads.

The Nissan design team focused on delivering a sportier and more emotional expression on the Navara, while maintaining Nissan’s distinctive design DNA. The view from the side is marked by the smooth silhouette thanks to the high beltline and blacked B-pillar, which gives the Navara a unique character.

The door section with dynamic convex and concave surface boldly expresses its energetic and dependable appearance along with the massively sculpted fenders. Nissan’s signature ‘V-motion’ motif flows from the grille and into the hood through to the front fender, giving a smooth and dynamic character line.

The visual appeal of the Navara is also enhanced thanks to the boomerang shaped lighting signature created with LED daytime running lights that gives a prominent and distinctive impression. Additional visual spice comes from chrome waist line mouldings and turn indicators mounted in the door mirrors.

2015-navara-interioir

Life on board has also been upgraded. Here the designers have styled the dashboard featuring a gentle sweep from the centre panel to the door side with three-dimensional rich sections in order to offer a feeling of spaciousness. In addition, the Nissan designers have styled the interior to represent a new quality benchmark in the segment, with finely designed meters and a tactile steering wheel, as well as the use of an aluminium-like finish on the centre cluster and console as well as the finely crafted stitches on the seat.

Occupants will feel the clear influence of Nissan’s SUV leadership, through the intuitive ergonomic design and use of high quality materials, and thanks to easier ingress and egress as well as improved refinement and visibility. Overall, the interior is spacious and comfortable, offering convenience for hard-working entrepreneurs and the quiet relaxation of a well isolated space for family journeys. The material selection and elaborate treatment such as double stitching fully express its high quality and sophistication.

2015-navara-3

“Since we built our first pick-up in 1933, over 14 million customers around the globe have come to depend on a Nissan pick-up to transport their families, work-mates and cargo, sometimes in the toughest of circumstances,” said Andy Palmer, Nissan’s Chief Planning Officer.

“Nissan pick-ups are often the lifeblood of their communities, and they need a broader range of abilities than almost any other vehicle. Engineering a good one isn’t easy, but with the NP300 Navara, we’ve added to our accumulated 80 years of pick-up know-how, more comfort, convenience and SUV-inspired features, in-order to build a great one.”

“The All-New Nissan NP300 Navara sets new benchmarks for performance, toughness, versatility and running costs; all the qualities that are critical for pickup users.”

“The NP300 Navara continues the legacy of Nissan’s long pickup history and, like all Nissan models, it will deliver excitement through innovation,” said Palmer.
